Open Question: What idiot invented airport restroom doors that open inward when you have a carryon? & why poop w/ lap luggage?
gromit80,
Whadaya mean "in case of depressurization"? What is the point of going to the restroom if you are not going to depressurize? Are we on the same page here?
Syd,
When I'm in the airPLANE restroom, I drag my luggage in there with me because I need my laptop, books, DVD player, and other toilet trees.

Open Question: What are the current airline regulations?
My mom just came back from a trip to Miami, Florida. She went there to attend the funeral of a family friend. My godfather's nephew died. Anyway, she told me that the airline had new regulations. The checked luggage cost 25 dollars going to your destination and going back. Also, they say that you have to pay for the in flight drinks and snacks and blankets and pillows. Has anyone else experienced this when flying recently. I want to know because I will be visiting family in California around Thanksgiving time.

Open Question: My MIL is freaking out over nothing... HELP?
My fiance has his luggage at his parents' house because our apt. is too small and doesn't have a lot of storage space. She's going away next week-end and while looking for a luggage to start packing, she decided to use my fiance's. She found a packet of K-Y Jelly in the zippered compartment that we obviously overlooked the last time he used the luggage. She called my fiance about it and she was upset. He was embarrassed about it and said that it wasn't his. We're both adults and she treats him like he's a teenager!
How do I deal with this situation without disrespecting her or telling her more than she needs to know?

Open Question: Is my boyfriend's mother overprotective/weird?
I have been going out with this guy for 3 years now and am becoming more and more turned off by his relationship with his parents. We both study abroad (UK) and his parents are in his home country. Is it normal for them to:
-call him everyday while he is abroad
-his mother cooks him BREAKFAST, DINNER, AND LUNCH (and often takes it to his room, she also brings snacks like cut up apple slices)
-his dad takes him shopping every 2-3 days (this is food shopping that is done exclusively for him)
-his mother washes all his clothes and folds them, she also cleans his room (part of it)
-his mother does his luggage and packing for him
-his dad is overprotective/intrusive, and he has gotten the two of us vacation packages only to tell us a few days later that he's also bought one for himself and his wife. This usually means us living in the same hotel.
Anyway...the situations that have happened would take very long to write down. I have confronted him about this and told him that because of his upbringing, he has become a very lazy and selfish person...he usually makes me make him breakfast when I'm here without any help..sometimes I would go over to his place and he would wait for me with raw materials (meat, etc) so that I could help him cook. Again, he is 21. He says his upbringing is not his fault and hasn't affected his personality but I KNOW that he is not the one for me (long-term) because he is just too dependent. Am I right? Or is this all normal.

Open Question: Advice needed urgently, please!?
Hi,
I have posted something similar on here before in case anyone thinks this sounds familiar but I am constantly editing and rewriting!
I just need your opinions on this opening paragraph:
It was a huge risk. The several hundred, if not thousand, people buzzing around her only instigated the furious debate raging in her brilliant mind. Her pale hand took the red passport from her jean’s pocket and she glared at the name imprinted inside the little booklet: Lilly. Her hazel eyes flickered scanning the faces of those nearest to her as she wondered who would join her on the plane. A sudden knock caused the young woman to regain her focus as a camera wielding, tubby man barged past her muttering something to the device in his hand. The garish blue and yellow logo was recognizable from quite a distance and Lilly reluctantly wondered to the appropriate check in desk baring the ‘BluSky’ banner.
“Hello,” the cheery woman smiled from behind the blue counter as Lilly approached it, “Ok, I need your passport please...do you have any preference to where you would like to sit on the plane?”
“No,”
“Right, you will be in seat 62A near the rear of the aircraft. Put your luggage on the scales please,” the woman directed with the forced smile still glued to her face, “Is that all you’re taking?” she asked noticing the small bag upon the scales.
“Yes,”
“Not staying in Perth long?”
“Probably not,”
“Ok...You need to be at Gate 17 thirty minutes before departure. Thank you for flying with BluSky Airlines, enjoy your flight!”
- Would you carry on reading this?
- Is it enigmatic?
- Any advice?!
Thanks.
Thanks for the advice so far... I am a little stuck when it comes to punctuation mistakes and paragraphing! Can anyone help me there? I always get confused when starting dailouge....
Thanks again (I am improving this already!)
